Situated in the Middle Atlas mountains, Ifrane is a desert garden of coolness and greenery. Lakes, springs – the feeling of being far from everything is complete, shocking and refreshing.
Immaculate air.
Waterfall around evening time
From the moment you arrive in Ifrane, there is an overriding feeling of freshness. Wide roads, parks, European-style mansions – here you will find the somewhat unknown side of North Africa. There is an abundance of springs and lakes in this area, at the heart of a thick cedar forest. The sloping rooftop chalets are incredibly reminiscent of Switzerland. This makes for an endlessly charming break. On the Azrou road towards the southeast, countless volcanoes make up the wide-open around Ito, a rough landscape which helps many people at sunset to remember lunar holes.
Springs and waterfalls
The Vittel spring and its waterfalls are a perfect walking destination. Follow the river a few hundred meters and go to the woods of maples and poplars through which the spring flows. In the summer, short excursions on horseback are offered to the waterfalls.
Blue catacomb
Ifrane, Middle Atlas
A few kilometers along the Meknes road, you will go to the catacomb of a marabout, a religious man from the sixteenth century, Sidi Abdesslam. Covered in blue zelliges mosaics, the catacomb is an important place for the pilgrimage, hidden in a valley covered in cypress and olive trees. Somewhat higher up than the town, several dozen old troglodytic abodes are still used as stables or storage areas.
